How to remove all traces of What’s Hot from Google+

Posted 15th Jan 12

Ok, I admit it, I love lolcats. But everything in the What’s Hot section of Google+ is garbage, or months old, and I’ll show you how to ditch it.

The most popular posts are selected for What’s Hot, which is cool, except obviously the most popular people will dominate it, and who are the most popular people on Google+? Britney Spears, Snoop Dog and the like. I’ve discussed What’s Hot on Google+ a lot, and it turns out there are millions, probably billions of people who also dislike it. So lets begin the extraction process.

You’ll Need

  1. Firefox (following Javascript can be used for Chrome, but I’ll leave you to sort the necessary plugins out)
  2. Greasemonkey plugin (download) (Mirror (Need to install manually))
  3. What’s Hot remover script (download)

Instructions

  1. Install Greasemonkey
  2. Install the What’s Hot remover script. If you click the ‘download’ above you should get an installation dialogue. If you click the mirror download you won’t, and will have to add the script via the Greasemonkey plugin manually.
  3. Done!
