Techmog and One From Me Create the ‘Buy Me A Pint’ Button

Techmog is a liquid network of engineers, programmers, designers and entrepreneurs in and around London who report on the industry we work in, from an insider's view. We're always looking for Londoners with something interesting to say. Send an email to info@techmog.com if you would like to contribute to the website.

In collaboration with pint-gifting app One From Me Techmog has developed a button giving readers the first of its kind ability to buy writers drinks from their browsers.

One From Me, who launched last year, aims to digitize pubs and give them a way to reach customers beyond their four walls. The system is a simple one. Customers redeem gifted pints by showing staff a confirmation page. Once accepted the funds are collected by the pub from One From Me and the pint is issued.

The button was developed in a couple of hours and is built around a standard Paypal form. When paying for a pint the writer’s One From Me username is recorded and the pint is issued to their account. The hope of One From Me is to develop a widget that any blogger can use, much like a Facebook Like button.

Techmog’s trial of the Buy Me A Pint button will explore novel alternatives to antiquated adverts. As London pubs are in need of revolution so are publicists. Pints can’t fund servers, obviously, but we’d like to show that collaborations like this can tackle real problems.
