Swype Kicks Back with Dragon Dictation Technology

Posted 28th Dec 11

Swype, the (seemingly) original swipe-style keyboard has creeped out of it’s niche and improved it’s speech-to-text dictation software. The Android keyboard now boasts Dragon Dictation; a well known speech recognition program first found on Windows computers.

Dragon Dictation is a big name, but using it in the real world proves it’s not as perfect as you’d expect. it is however a definite improvement on the native speech recognition software Android offers.

We were hoping for something similar to the real time dictation service on Android Icecream Sandwich, but sadly Swype’s is used in the same way as the native version – start, talk, stop.

To try out this version of Swype head on over to beta.swype.com.
