Action games on touch screen devices are a bit crap. With your fingers covering 25 per cent of the screen you might as well have your head in your heads. While phones are getting more powerful, games more intricate, the controls stay the same; awkward and without precision. Flitchio is an attempt to solve the problem and does it with style and convenience.
The controller snaps onto the back of the phone as a case and instantly provides four real buttons – two top buttons and two back joystick-style controls. The two back joysticks are a unique design which look like concave buttons but move around on a horizontal plain. Their operation is done with your middle fingers and although odd at first you quickly become used to them. The controller ingeniously doesn’t need batteries, but instead harvests power from the phone’s NFC module.
“Mobile gaming isn’t actually limited by computing power. It’s limited by fingers hiding the screen and the inaccuracy that comes with the controls and display being in the same space. A pair of thumbs can obscure a significant chunk of the onscreen action. Flitchio fixes this ubiquitous gamer bugbear, and I’m extremely excited to bring it to the Kickstarter community today.” -DrAmirShadmand, cofounder and CEO of SUPENTA
Flitchio is raising £47k on Kickstarter to start production of the device. Early birds can get one for £39.
