Google has introduced location based searches of posts to Google+, only before available on the mobile app. Since the majority of Google+ users are from the Americas it’s nice to be able to find some locals!

Unfortunately Trends still seem to be worldwide, but we’re expecting that to also adopt the function, similarly to Twitter. And you’re not able to search for users or hangouts in your area.

What excites me so much about it is the ability to track real life experiences from real people at that exact moment. Not necessarily what Christmas related things people are doing in London, but natural disasters, protests, riots. This is why I love Twitter, but unlike Twitter Google+ doesn’t limit what the user can show, readers don’t have to click off to another website to view an image or video, it’s there and then.

For this reason I look forward to the next natural disaster, which will most likely be a sprinkling of snow in London.
