Students from the San Jose State University in California have created a proof of concept omnidirectional, self balancing motorcycle.

The balls are made from carbon fibre, fibre glass and coated with industrial rubber. They’re driven by three motors to allow the bike to move in any direction – not just backwards and forwards.

The students are hoping to have a working prototype ready for the end of 2012 and are looking for investors to speed up development time and eventually make it into a commercial product.
