Since Google Wave; the product said to replace email, three of the guys who worked on it have now left (probably out of disgust) and have set up shop creating their own take on Wave – Fluent.

Google Wave was a nice product, but the messaging was completely wrong. No one understood what it was and why they needed it. Fluent on the other hand spells it’s purpose out for you incredibly clearly. Fluent just wants to make email more chit-chatty.

The first email is treated like a thread on a forum or social media post. Whenever someone replies to this email their email is treated like a comment. This interface is instantly recognisable and easy to understand.

The key here though is that it works with Gmail, meaning you don’t have the task of getting your friends and coworkers to use it.

Fluent is still in closed beta and you’ll have to wait around 2 months before your invite is accepted, but you can check out their demo here.
